House projects keep me motivated
Yes, it’s a lot of work. Manual work. But manual work keeps us grounded, helps us clear and organise our thoughts.
We bought this semi-detached in 2021. It allowed us to pin down our family nest. Both me and my Brit partner had different journeys and since we moved in together in 2018, we were living in a rented house.
And you probably know what is like, we didn’t want to be putting our personal finances into improving a house that wasn’t ours, so buying made that possible. Whilst it is the people that you live with make it “home”, there’s only so much you can do to make it “yours”.

The kitchen was the first room we focused on. It was a P1, considering it’s where we get our food prepped. From plain white to cosy, timeless country style. As you can see, it was a complete redoing.
The table was moved to the lounge-dining room (will show you on another post). The whole dynamic of the kitchen was not family cooking oriented at all, unless you only eat take-away (not my style). Btw, the previous owners left the hob and it was D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G 🤮 The sink was not located in a practical location, so moved.
Obviously, none of this would have been possible without my partner’s skills. We had a common vision and he made it possible: total replumbing and rewiring of the kitchen, adding more and updated sockets that included USB ports was a must. New tiling done all around and the kitchen units were all found on Facebook Marketplace. Sustainability is essential.

Now it feels like a life-like kitchen, not an Instagram one. We also added a little corner for our Bonnie pup, with towels and her hair dryer and other bits. Certainly getting there 🥰
