Childcare

About the Project

Lil’ Hands was a really exciting project. I had so many ideas to start with, all the things we could do, however, we need to tailor the service according to the availability the business owner normally has to maintain it afterwards. We went for WordPress, as it is an affordable and up-to-date platform we can work with.

In this case, the business needed to stamp the business brand on the world wide web. The type of business didn’t aim to expand but to keep the childminder with a steady and continuous workflow. With this aim we are also working on a Facebook Page, with public visibility, where she will only publish general content i.e. help to promote the business (by advertising upcoming spaces), help promoting local events/venues, the activities that have been done or planned, crafts ideas, etc.

Next, we created a Parents Group, a private (and invisible) group only for the Parents of the children she looks after, where she will be able to post photos (always with the parents’ prior consent), a monthly Newsletter, a safe place where she can share real-time events safely and content regarding the children she looks after.

Then, the first website that I have done for someone else from scratch. It was a little bit of a challenge because there aren’t many private childcare websites to refer to. Most of the childcare providers that bother with a web presence are Nurseries and bigger businesses. So far, most private businesses didn’t think setting up a webpage would be worth their time and may don’t even know how. And that’s where my services come in. To allow “toddler” businesses the opportunity to play in the grown-up playground.
