A Matured Creature
My first dream profession was to be a reporter. I would role-play as if I were reading out the news on the TV (even made a cardboard box screen!) and all dressed up I would read the news and the weather report out loud to my parents and other family members.
Spot visits from extended family members living in South Africa, year in year out planted the seed of the word and languages.
Always saw myself having a busy life: hectic career (with two or three jobs), living on my own but with a healthy social life. The love life was to be nearly inexistant.
I wanted to travel the world, learn more languages, meet new people, know new cultures. Yes, very, VERY bubbly!
I continued on helping my peers with all their language difficulties, writing little pieces for school newspapers, blogging.
Inevitably I later immigrated to the UK, got CIoL-certified and worked as freelance Public Services Interpreter and as a Translator whilst still working with my languages of passion in other areas to help paying the bills (in Travelling, Engineering, Finance, Insurance, Water Industry and IT).
Mum, daughter, partner, I enjoy the simple things in life. The human things.
The love of reading and writing have been haunting me ever since I became a mother. Never I appreciated my spare time so much…
